Under the motto "Identify, Support, and Challenge: New Findings on Dyslexia and Dyscalculia" the specialist convention of the BVL (German Association for Dyslexia and Dyscalculia) extends an invitation to Würzburg from March 17-19, 2017. Those who are interested can find information in lectures and practical workshops regarding current findings from the diagnosis and treatment of people with learning difficulties.
Recommendations for Diagnosis and Support
Prof. Dr. Gerd Schulte-Körne, chairman of the scientific advisory board of the BVL, will present the current S3 guidelines for the diagnosis and support of problems regarding calculation, reading, and spelling. The expert for learning disabilities and his colleagues Dr. Sini Huemer and Dr. Kristina Moll from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich will also present Meister Cody – Namagi as an "innovative concept to promote reading and spelling," which has been available in the App Store and Google Play Store since fall 2016.
A solution will also be recommended for children with difficulties regarding calculation. Meister Cody – Talasia was developed with the latest methods of learning research at the University of Münster. The senior scientist and psychologist Dr. Jörg-Tobias Kuhn will present the "computer-based research for mathematically impaired children in elementary school."
Both training solutions deal with supporting concepts that can be used at school or at home and that include an integrated support diagnosis test, which reliably detects possible weaknesses of the children.
Expert Exhibition, Lectures and Workshops
Meister Cody will be represented in the expert exhibition together with other learning materials, publishers and technical aids.
Other lectures and individual counseling offers for parents and affected persons will deal with topics such as equal opportunity and compensating for disadvantages in school, during apprenticeship and at work. In addition, neurobiological research results and their importance for practical applications as well as advanced training offers will be presented for teachers and therapists.
Practice-oriented workshops, such as "Diagnosis and Support Diagnosis of Children and Adolescents with Reading and/or Writing Disorders" by Dr. Katharina Galuschka, offer a platform for deepening focus and exchanging ideas with experts.
